New semester,hopes not so new.

Finally..6 months of turmoil ended at 11/11/11. The last semester was filled with both glorious and inglorious moments. I managed to shed 27 kgs in the last 6 months by a special torture method called dieting,or specifically crash dieting. My body is FUBAR all the way,now i have to rat almost 6x a day in order to maintain a healthy weight. What can i say,i overshot myself!

Academic performances were, hmm what should i say? Uncertain? Yes...sem exam results are quite uncertain. will i pass through or fuck it all up..Only my dear FSM,his excellence knows..

will post rest tomorrow...buh bye..

Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the unicorn

PVR Chennai

Today-20-11-2011

Tintin comics are one of my all time favorites besides the Batman series. I find them full of vigor ,enthusiasm and positivity. The Spielberg movie gave me all of it,temporarily taking me back to my school days.

Tintin the reporter buys a model ship from the market for cheap, but he doesn't realize that its gonna take him for the ride of a lifetime. Tintin and his loyal dog snowy travel far and wide, escape misadventures and gains a new friend,Captain Haddock(Drunk n dangerous, and is a bit outspoken) ,but will they get what they're after?

Movie is fast paced and simple enough even for dummies. Spielberg proves again why he's my favorite director. He's displayed amazing range in choice of subjects and their effective execution Dubbing choices for all the characters were excellent. Loved Haddock's and Red Rackham's choices,Hank Azaria and Daniel Craig(James Bond). Jamie Bell's voice was perfect for the babyfaced Tintin. Technical department just rocked. All the details were done to perfection. Modelling was too good. Considerable change has been done to the script in order to manage the length but it was good, otherwise the movie would've been too lengthy.

Highly recommended ! Bring your family along while watching it, especially the little ones, they'll love it.

Serenity by Serendipity

That warm kiss on my cheek woke me up. Her eyes were filled with tears while she bid me goodbye. I looked at her through the window as she ran back as the bus picked up. Tired, I pushed back my seat and tried to relax, but…

She always inspired me, inspired me to go beyond. There she was, standing by the blackboard, scribbling equations I hate. The only positive I got out of my 12 years of schooling was her company. Bell rang, much to my pleasure. We both packed our bags and started towards our homes. “You know, there are only days left for us to get out of this contraption” she said. We shared a passion, we both hate uniforms. ”Yeah, I sighed…

What shall we do now?? Do you know anything about how to use a log table? I asked her. “No I don’t… You ogre, have you not been listening to anything what I’ve been saying? Apparently not… I hate use log books you see, it creates more confusion. I use my good old calculator”. But they won’t allow it inside the exam halls! I said. “Who cares? Don’t you know to calculate by yourself?” Well, you know Math has never been my favourite thing… and I’m quite bad at it. “Well, you’re quite bad at maintaining your weight, does that mean you hate yourself? “Duh” I said… “You know what, (she was irritated by now) I’ll teach you, but I hate people who hate themselves. Ok! I was relieved. So, you going back to your home then? I asked. “No, she replied…Babe can you help me in return? I need your help in language, now itself… Sure why not! I replied… Beaming, she took her books, piled them up in front of me, and lied near to me with her arms on my lap and looked at me intently like a puppy. Well, nice distraction I thought! She looked at me as if she admired me with all her heart as tutored her, one of those moments when I thought that she loved me more..

The walk from the bus stop to the hostel was quite a long one. Dreary and weary I continued to slump through wet grass and cold stone. Leaving your worthless past behind is a tedious process. You feel as you’ve just been released from an asylum, a place where you feel so unique, but in reality you’re just too common.
So, what’s there for breakfast? She asked. Bread, I replied slyly. Oh no, not again! If there’s one food she absolutely hates, it is the bread. So, why don’t we go out? It’s been three weeks since we’ve been shut in! I heaved, finally- we get to go outside! Ride through the streets with her in backseat was just awesome! Wind swept her brunette hair like a paintbrush, as she held me tight around my abs. The burger man was my favourite fast food shop in town and I decided to give her a taste of it. So, what’s so special about this place? She asked, In her finest narcissist expression. Well, for starters the food is so great, better than all the other joints where You, pay high for tasteless, spice-less, soulless food, I said. Well, who are you? Food spiritualist? As long as it fills my tummy, it’s good enough for me. I shook my head in grave disapproval, and said; You know what, you need to open your eyes more… no, not literally, they’re cursing me already! You’re a snob, you know that; she said broadly. Well, why don’t we put our moths to better use? The food’s here already! I said. She took a bite, mm it’s not bad as I thought; she said. Well what did I say? So how good is it? Well, it’s as hot as Paul and as smooth Tommy. My suspicious look caught her it seems; she said- aww you pup noting is as good as you, she said re-assuringly. Well, it seems that I need to watch you out more to gain an impression, I said. She pushed me, “Rascal, start the bike. Let’s go home-It’s 6 already!

I threw my clothes away, carelessly. I cared less about myself now. I started the shower, praying that let there be water! It felt like the heavens have opened. Water droplets showered over me like cold bullets, washing away the dirt, filling the body with much yearned freshness. I remained under it wet and numb, the pain was exasperating. The body disobeyed the brain in a fantastic fashion-for once I felt that I was in control.

I heard a knock at my door, it was her! What? I asked, What do you want? Especially at this hour? I’ve just woken up. Yeah, sloth’s sleep like there’s no tomorrow, I know that; she retorted. Now shake it off and open your PC. She asked me. Yeah, ok. You just switch it on, let me just wash my face. Yeah, ok what’s up, I asked. What I need, is an orkut account. Ok, I’ve been asking you about it for long. It’s great you see! I said. Yes, just what I need, we tag along the course right? When the form filling reached the relationship column; she looked at shyly- what shall I write here? She asked. Well you write about your relationship-duh!
Da, I’ve been longing to tell you about this. I knew this guy, Richard from the computer batch. He proposed to me before the exams you know. I never thought a guy could propose beautifully like that! And also he complements my ideas like anything, and as you know I love that. You’ve always been like that, and I like it! She spoke about him for nearly half an hour, why did she have to be so detailed? Why couldn’t she cut the flab, and tell me? After a lecture, the initial sentences which had illuminated me beyond repair and the rest of which felt like a time warp, I was woken up by her pat. “Da, you see just like my boy, do you have a girl that trumps me? I shook my head, will there be? “Da I’m going, mum’s calling-and keep it secret ok? Muah-She kissed me on the cheek and left. After the long conversation the only thing I understood was, I was all what she hoped for in love and she never loved ME…

The bed welcomed me well. Warm and soft like a newborn, I hugged my pillow tightly and prayed for the heavy sleeper inside me to arise. It seems that he’s having an off-night. Whatever, I rest my head against the wall. Let it be… I thought. Memories can haunt you on an off night. Her memories haunted me all day. I have always wondered what makes clocks tick? In their 360 degree life cycle, they meet 12 times for a minute. But the difference it makes, controls our life. Half his life the hour hand runs behind the minute hand, and the other half he doesn’t even know that she’s beside him. The time we met where the best that 12 years of my schooling offered me. I was ashamed of myself, Never did I offer her anything back. Didn’t she deserve something? Yes, she deserves something better, but all I could give her was one tight hug before I packed off. In return she gave me a kiss, that would make any man say I Love You…

Urumi: Review

There are several movies which really overwhelm you through out the entire length.I can assure you that Urumi is one of those movies where you just forget what's happening around and entrap yourself in a dream state.Much like inception.Urumi is a high voltage thrill ride for your eyes and ears.

Kelu Nayanar(Prithviraj)is a warrior whose childhood had been destroyed by the murder of his father(Arya). His best friend Vawwali(Prabhudeva) is always there for him B&W. The story begins, with intro of K.D and his friend(P&P) after a brief voice intro by KPSC lalitha.

The story continues as a flashback of KD's great forefather i.e (Kelu). The thrill begins from this juncture. For helping the Princess of Kolathiri kingdom kelu and Vawwali are introduced to the Kolathiri king himself, who asks him to trap THE man himself-Vasco da Gama. The events which follow this which involves the conspiracy to king the lord Of Arabian sea and the assassination attempts make the movie.During his journey to kill Gama,Kelu finds love from none othe than legendary Arackal Aisha who is responsible for deaths of 29 Portuguese soldiers, who tried to rob her honor. The whole race, adrenaline, thrill and love make Urumi a fantastic fictional and commercialized history of Kerala we have never ever heard of before.

The main highlight of this movie,is nothing but the magnificent camera work of Sangeeth Sivan. The man is an artist,he renders music with help of camera. The scenes, especially the water fall scenes are eye candy and exhilarating. The music is so fresh and creative. This must be Deepak Dev's most creative album.Tunes are wild and exotic and beautiful.

Prithviraj's fits into a T as Kelu Nayanar. There is no one in Malayalam cine field wo could be Kelu right now.He has to concentrate more on expressions,he always carries that don't care face with him, even in this movie.Genelia, always beautiful with expressive and lively eyes. But Jagathy Sreekumar, the famous comedian is the star of the movie. The man simply owned the whole cast.He sways and changes into and out of his male-female traits. The way he co-ordinated his bisexual characteristics was amazing. His "Shakuni" character stands tall above all.Nithya Menon and Amol Gupte had good roles and did well.Another impressive cast is Arya, who quite impresses in his extended cameo as Kelu's father. The actor ropes another fine role and walks away, head held high.

But a movie is not without negatives as well.Santhosh Sivan was so absorbed in carving out the natural beauty through his camera that he forgot ultra slo-mo and long sequences could harm the movie by slowing down the pace. The beginning scenes where somewhat boring and same applies to some post interval scenes. The action sequences would have been better at 1x than in those slo-mo's.Warriors were randomly throwing weapons all around without much co-ordination.One such bad move,an urumi could chop off its owner's head. The scriptwriter Shankar Ramakrishnan concentrated more on dialogues than script. This can make scenes odd.

But asides these negatives,it is quite an impressive movie.Urumi can be considered as a colorful graphic novel, with catchy dialogues than a developing story. The film drew comparisons from Braveheart and Gladiator, but i won't compare this film with those classics. The film that comes into my mind while seeing this movie was "300".These are quite similar. They have stunning visuals, superb screenplay and hunks:).The fight scenes are similar in using slow motion but the former excelled in it.Fight scenes sometimes felt too unbelievable.

Overall it is a good movie, which is fresh, new and exotic. We see the 400 year old kerala history, which was never pondered over by film makers. The film gives you a never before experience which you wouldn't forget for quite sometime. It is a new attempt and it deserves credit for excelling in it,atleast to some extent. This film deserves an applause. It is a magnificent lightning ride.

Must watch!

Aaaahhh..man its good to be back..

After 6 months of exile,i am back in my hometown named Calicut(Kozhikode),Kerala.

What an eventful 3 months it was. It all began with the smell of record submission reached our noses in the dead-rat smelling zoology lab.Prof.JMV Kalairasi announced it.(Of course,as she does not teach us,its her only job towards enlightening us,first years). In her usual air of carelessness and arrogance she announced us, the dunces that we all are behind in lab work and we should catch up soon!

Rat race began! Mornings and evenings were filled with drawing activities.Like rubbing salt on wound, botany lab works appeared out of nowhere. Now it was double trouble.
We usually did insane hours of work to complete our work, insane enough to make us all insane.

After days of heavy work load it was time for 2nd Internals.I performed fairly well, with help of course :D

After that minor speed bump we were back to our "artwork" completion. We finally completed it all, just 2 days before the exams and one day before the submission. I know , i know...I am not a sloth but i hate that void were we had no work.So i always completed work "on time" :D

Lab exams both zoology and botany went easier than i thought.Hmm is sighed, proud of myself. Before we could stretch our "vertebrae" or "notochord" the Semester ending exams arrived.

You know there is something i always loved about exams,u get so sharp and you'll have an air of "know it all" around you, till the last day of exam. You'll think,"oh man this shit was so easy, dunno why i f***ed up my internals! Anyway, the whole process was "uneventful" :P ...Well err..not that much maybe..I overslept for my first exam, english actually.. Exam was at 9:00 AM,and i woke up at 8:55.I thought exam was at 1:00 PM like last sem.Luckily for me i saw Sam's sms,he inquired me about the exam hall. That was nightmare 5 minutes..man.. I ran 800 mts in 3 minutes, but guard stopped me at entrance..i had to wait 20 mins to write exam-late comers punishment!

I returned next day,to here-sweet home town!! I was hangin' out with my cousin for a week..Lazing during the days, watchin' movies-playin' games....

Now with him gone,i have two sis' to look out for...

Now about the whole sem review thing, well its my blog-I'll write whatever shit that comes to my mind, Mind it...
